TRAINING & CERTIFICATION WORKSHOPS

ATTENTION BS/AI Displaced Crab Fishermen: If you have permanently lost your job due to the BS/AI Crab Buyback Vessel Reduction Referendum (the list of vessels is on the "Latest News" page) file for unemployment immediately with your State Employment Security Office.

As a dislocated worker, assistance may be available to you through your local WorkSource office. WorkSource is a full service job search center offering help with your resume, job hunting and a variety of other services. Comments:        Drill Instructor Training is U.S. Coast Guard approved to address the commercial fisherman's needs and comply with training requirements specified in the Commercial Fishing Industry Vessel Safety Act of 1988. This course emphasizes hands-on survival skills focusing on conducting effective emergency drills onboard a vessel. It covers firefighting, emergency signals, C.G. emergency evacuations, flooding control, stability, coldwater survival, abandon ship procedures, man overboard recovery techniques, liferaft and immersion suit use just to name a few. Comments:        This is a Coast Guard-Approved class for commercial fishermen and recreational boaters on Monday, June 9, 2005 from 8am - 5pm. Topics to be covered include CPR, patient assessment, shock, burns, cold water near-drowning, hypothermia, lacerations, first aid kits and more.
